At Respect Academy, we pride ourselves on meeting the needs of our students so they can thrive. Our work with our Black Excellence Plan focuses on black students’ needs and brilliance. We ensure they feel a deep sense of belonging in our school and excel with their academics. Our work includes deepening and acting on student-powered improvement efforts, connecting with parents, and ensuring that students connect their identity in their classes. Respect will disrupt racist mindsets, beliefs, behaviors and systems so that our Black & African-American students, families, and staff feel valued and honored for their perspectives and contributions to our school. We hold additional time and space to continue to have courageous conversations and build knowledge about equity and bias among our community.
